What matters on site
- Professional fitting required texlyweave® wallcovering is a heavy woven fabric and should be hung by a fitter with heavy-fabric wallcovering experience. We supply a step-by-step installation guide with every order.
- Wall preparation The wall must be clean, smooth, dry and sound. Strip old wallcovering and adhesive residue, sand and fill any bumps or hollows, then seal the surface with a universal wallcovering primer.
- Two backing types With PET non-woven backing, or as unbacked woven fabric. With the unbacked version the wall colour can show through the open weave, match the wall tone unless you want a deliberate contrast.
- Adhesive on the wall only Apply wallcovering adhesive to the wall and let it become thoroughly tacky, around ten minutes, depending on site conditions, before hanging. Test a small area first to see how much adhesive and open time your wall needs.
- Trim and sequence Allow 5 cm top and bottom for trimming, cut 6–8 cm off the edge to get a straight line, and number the drops on the back so the sequence stays correct.
- Judge colour before you cut Hang at least three drops before you assess colour and shading. Report any visible fault before cutting. Once the material is cut and hung, the quality is accepted.
- Woven-character tolerance The weave can run slightly off-parallel to the edge: up to 1.5 in (38 mm) of bow or skew per direction is normal, and the yarn coating can produce light-and-dark shading that also shows at the seams.
- Do not over-press When you smooth out bubbles, use a light hand. Too much pressure can push adhesive through the face and leave a permanent stain.
Everyday maintenance
- Routine Wipe with a damp cloth. For marks, use a mild soap solution and wipe clean with water.
- Spills Blot promptly with a soft cloth rather than rubbing hard across the weave.
- What to avoid No scouring pads, solvents, bleach or steam. They dull or discolour the vinyl coating.
- Vacuuming A soft brush attachment lifts dust out of the weave; keep it on the low setting.
- Damp, not wet Keep the cloth damp rather than wet. Standing water at a seam can lift the adhesive.
- Keep an offcut Retain a spare drop from the same batch: future repairs are far easier to make invisible.
Custom and special orders
- Two backing options PVC foam only, or PVC foam with PET non-woven, choose according to the wall and the handle you want.
- 98 patterns The BreezeDécor wallcovering collection covers 98 patterns, from sisal and linen weaves to bolder colourways.
- Longer rolls Up to 100 m per roll on request, so tall walls and long corridors need fewer seams.
- 200 cm wide Fewer drops per wall, which means fewer seams to match on site.
- Custom colour Tell us the reference you need and we will confirm what we can match in production.
How to order
- A4 swatches Available to qualified distributors, specifiers and designers; sample orders are prepaid.
- Project quantities Send us the wall areas and we will work out the ordering allowance with trimming and tolerances included.
- Coordinated projects The same woven vinyl is available as wall-to-wall flooring, mats and runners if you want one material across a whole interior.
The same weave, supplied as a finished panel
Since 2019 we have laminated texlyweave® woven vinyl onto panel backings with our PET acoustic sheet and glass-mat reinforced thermoplastic (GMT) partners, so the same surface can be specified as a rolled wallcovering or as a panel system.
- Acoustic panel build 1 mm woven vinyl face on a 9 mm PET acoustic sheet core, 1,850 gsm.
- Acoustic performance NRC 0.85 to EN ISO 354 and Class D to EN 11654, with the PET acoustic backing.
- Curved and flexible work A glass-mat reinforced thermoplastic (GMT) backing takes the panel around curved walls and columns.
- Sizes 680 and 1,220 mm widths, 2,440 / 2,750 mm lengths as standard; custom panels on request.
- Fire behaviour ASTM E84-98 Class 1 or A; GB 8624-2012 B2 (D-s2, d0).
- Where panels are used Hotel lobbies and corridors, reception and feature walls, and ceilings, including surfaces that a roll cannot follow.
- Ceilings Panels are used overhead as well as on walls.
- Access and reuse Where services need to be reached, panels can be lifted and reused.
- Maintenance Wipe with a damp cloth, exactly as for the rolled wallcovering.
- Panel samples A4 swatches and panel samples are available to qualified distributors and specifiers; sample orders are prepaid.
The same woven vinyl, supplied as a finished panel instead of a roll, here laminated onto a decorative wall panel and finished in a timber frame. Panel samples and project photos on request.
Wallcovering: questions we get asked
Is texlyweave® wallcovering a wallpaper?
It is a woven vinyl wallcovering: a woven textile surface rather than a paper wallpaper, which is why it wipes clean and holds up where a fabric-backed wallcovering would scuff. In several markets the same material is specified as woven vinyl wallpaper.
Can I hang it myself?
We recommend an experienced heavy-fabric wallcovering fitter. The material is heavier than paper wallcovering and over-pressing can push adhesive through the face. Our installation guide covers substrates, primer, adhesive and trimming.
Which way round does it go on the wall?
With the non-woven backed version the backing goes against the wall. With the unbacked woven version, remember that the wall colour can show through the open weave, match the wall tone unless you want a contrast effect.
Why does the colour change slightly from one drop to the next?
The yarn is coated with colour, so many patterns show a light-and-dark shading that also appears at the seams. It is an inherent characteristic of a woven product, not a fault. Hang at least three drops before you judge the colour.
What adhesive should be used?
A wallcovering adhesive applied to the wall only, and left to become tacky before the drops are hung. We can share the adhesive specifications we have tested on request.
Is it suitable for bathrooms and kitchens?
The surface is water-resistant and wipes clean, which suits bathrooms, laundry rooms and kitchens. It is not a waterproof membrane, so the substrate still needs to be sound and sealed.
What sizes does it come in, and can I get samples?
200 cm wide and 15–25 m per roll (up to 100 m on request), 2 mm thick. A4 swatches are available to qualified distributors and specifiers; sample orders are prepaid.
Can the same material be supplied as a finished panel instead of a roll?
Yes. Panels are built on a PET acoustic sheet or GMT backing and are used for walls and ceilings where a roll is not practical, curved surfaces, feature walls and areas that need to be opened up again. Ask us for the current panel range.
How much sound does an acoustic panel absorb?
With the PET acoustic sheet backing the panel reaches NRC 0.85 to EN ISO 354 and Class D to EN 11654. That figure belongs to the panel build, not to the rolled wallcovering.
